Welcome! And What is Artios?

 Welcome to Artios Leadership!

Artios (pronounced: ar'-tee-os), from the ancient Greek, is a word that means “fitted” or “having a special aptitude.” It is also used to describe how people can be trained or equipped to do something important.

That is exactly the word that describes leadership and leading. The word “fitted” implies a piece of clothing or armor—something that must be measured, tailored, and worn comfortably before being of use. The more comfortable you are with leading and leadership—particularly the more challenging parts of leading—the better able you are to help others.

This blog will explore leadership, leading, strategic communication, and similar topics, especially as they relate to the law enforcement, public safety, and government sectors. Because I am also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), I will also occasionally post on these topics, because fraud is essentially a failure of leadership.

I look forward to our discussions and your comments. We can all learn—and lead—together.

Aphrodisias was a small ancient Greek Hellenistic city in the historic Caria cultural region of western Anatolia, Turkey. It is located near the modern village of Geyre, about 100 km east from the coast of the Aegean Sea, and 230 km southeast of İzmir.
